From Fitness Expert and Multiple Ironman Tom Holland:
We are so excited to announce our 4th Annual Pushups for Puppies fitness fundraiser! In the past few years, we have had successful events thanks to you, our pet-loving community. In 2013, we fundraised for Indy, the sweet little pup who had fireworks taped to his legs on the 4th of July and suffered horrendous 3rd degree burns. We are so happy to say that thanks to you, Indy is healthy and happy and has a good, safe life with his mom.
Last year, we fundraised for Gentle Ben and the good news is he was also adopted! Click here to see Ben's happy story.
Please join us for a fun-filled circuit workout to raise money for sweet Bea Bea, who was rescued from the South LA Shelter, and is awaiting surgery for a tibial crest avulsion. Any extra money raised will go towards helping Bea Bea's fellow doggy and kitty friends at S.T.A.R.T Shelter Transport Animal Rescue Team.

Avocado chocolate mousse is a hit in our household! Don't knock it till you've tried it! Don't like pistachios? Leave them out and add something you do like, such as Goji berries, coconut, almonds, a pinch of cinnamon or cayenne, etc. We've made many variations with this recipe and they're all great.
3 Avocados, RIPE
1/2 Cup Raw Cacao Powder
1 Vanilla bean or 1 teaspoon extract
1/4 Maple syrup or coconut Sugar (or add a few drops stevia until sweet enough) Salt to taste 1/2 Cup Pistachio nuts, crushed Cacao nibs for garnish
In the bowl of a blender or food processor, blend avocado until smooth. Add all other ingredients, blending until mixture is uniform. Chill for about 2 hours in the fridge or half an hour in the freezer. Garnish with fresh fruit or chopped nuts.
If you want to try this recipe, but don't have the raw cacao powder on hand, unsweetened cocoa powder are fine-tasting substitutes. The mousse will no longer be strictly raw, but it is still delicious! And it retains the spirit of the dish.
THE CORE HAMMER
The best inventions are the ones that solve an existing need. They don't reinvent the wheel per se, but rather improve upon and make the wheel that much better. This is why the Core Hammer is such an amazing piece of fitness equipment: It doesn't reinvent the act of hitting a tire with a sledgehammer - It simply makes it that much better. Combining the tire and the sledgehammer into one portable and convenient product it eliminates the need for a big, cumbersome tire and transforms it into an incredible full-body workout you can do anytime, anywhere.
The best exercises are those that are fun, simple and effective, and the Core Hammer truly fits all three of the these criteria. This "trifecta" is extremely difficult to find in the fitness world, especially the "simple yet effective" combination. There are an infinite number of exercise modalities and pieces of equipment that are both fun to do and simple to perform, yet they provide little if any true benefit.
The Core Hammer is functional and fun, easy yet effective and it's unique design also allows it to work extremely well in a group exercise context. This increases the value and impact of the Core Hammer exponentially: You are not only much more likely to stick with a workout that you do with others, you also work harder in the group setting and therefore get greater results as well.
I have been in the fitness industry for over two decades now and know how extremely rare it is to find something in the world of exercise that is new and exciting, something that makes people say "I want to try that," but that's exactly the description of and reaction to the Core Hammer.

We've all heard the saying, "Eat Your Veggies" and September is also Fruit and Veggie Month so it is a good time to examine your daily intake. Do you know how many servings are recommended daily for health and longevity?
Each person has different nutritional and energy requirements, but the average adult should aim for 8-10 servings of fruits and veggies per day. That may sound like a lot, but one serving would be equivalent to a cup of raw veggies, a 1/2 cup of cooked veggies, and a 1/2 cup of fruit. If one were to eat a large salad for a meal, that salad would be equivalent to about 4 servings of vegetables.
Smoothies: Add a handful of spinach or leafy greens and some berries to your smoothies and you've got 2 servings right there.
Omelettes: Add leftover veggies to your eggs, or mix in baby lettuce when it starts to wilt so you don't waste them, and get your greens.
Fill Your Plate: Aim to fill your plate with 50% vegetables then fill the other half with protein, legumes, and whole grains.
Fruits and vegetables are loaded with vitamins, minerals, anti-oxidants, phytonutrients, and fiber, which have been shown to lower the risk of chronic diseases such as heart disease.
Fruits and veggies come in array of colors, which contain beneficial phytonutrients, which boost the immune system, eliminate toxins, prevent blood clotting, support the liver, reduce inflammation, maintain healthy eyes and skin, improve circulation, cholesterol, and brain function.
Fruits and veggies are delicious and nutritious so eat up! Go to your local Farmer's Market and try something new.
I am a few months away from competing in my 24th Ironman triathlon, this one taking place in Fortaleza, Brazil. When I cross the finish line I will have completed an Ironman on all available continents, six out of the seven. I have also done over sixty marathons and ultra marathons around the world as well.
What I am most proud of, however, is not how many endurance races are on my resume or my faster times, but rather that I am injury-free. I plan on exercising uninterrupted into my nineties and beyond and I am unwilling to do anything that might compromise my long-term health.
Contrary to popular belief, studies have not only proven that running is not “bad” for our joints, but that runners have less incidence of osteoarthritis than non-runners. We were made to move and to move forward. The reason people have issues while running is most often due to musculoskeletal weaknesses and imbalances.
And that is one of the “secrets” to my success. The primary reason for my ability to push myself physically yet avoid the seemingly inevitable aches and pains is by “bulletproofing” my body through intelligent, evidence-based strength training, which includes utilizing a handful of MostFit products.
SYN Rings: I can’t state strongly enough how much I love using the SYN rings in my training and how unique I find them to be. Strengthening the lower body is essential to both preventing injury as well as increasing performance and the SYN Rings provide a unique stimulus in three planes, as well as major core muscle recruitment as well. The functional strength and stabilization combination required while utilizing the SYN Rings is exactly what we endurance athletes need. And, most importantly as well, they make traditional strength training more fun.
Resistance Tubes: Many endurance athletes avoid strength training altogether because they don’t want to add muscle weight to their bodies. While it is true that the lighter we are the faster we go, this doesn’t mean we throw out resistance training completely. It requires instead that we train like endurance athletes, not bodybuilders, following a program and using equipment that focuses on building sport-specific strength rather than big muscles. Resistance tubes not only allow me to work my entire body without building significant mass, they are extremely portable so I can use them anywhere, anytime.
Core Hammer: Core strength is essential for optimal performance and injury-prevention in almost all sports, but especially for triathletes and runners. Traditional abdominal work like crunches just isn’t enough – We need to engage in full-body functional movements that challenge our muscle firing patterns in multiple planes, exactly what the Core Hammer delivers. And again, it’s different and its fun – two essential components for long-term success.
